“Platelet Rich Plasma”, referred to by the acronym PRP, is the name given to plasma enriched with platelets, one of the blood cells. Basically, the blood is divided into two parts; the liquid part is called plasma, and the cell part consists of three types of cell groups called red blood cells (erythrocytes), white blood cells (leukocytes), blood pulse (platelets, platelets). PRP, on the other hand, is the production of plasma, which is the liquid part of the blood, while various processes are performed to ensure the intensive presence of platelets in it.
The task of platelets is to ensure blood clotting. Activated as a result of the outflow of blood from the vein, platelets start the coagulation process, which is very complicated in one direction, and in the other they secrete growth factors into the environment that will accelerate wound healing. The positive effects of these active substances secreted by platelets have long been used in medicine.
It has been observed that PRP, which is used in the treatment of chronic wounds that do not heal, joint and november damage, dental treatments, has been used in cosmetic fields for skin regeneration in recent years with very good results.
PRP application is performed with the person’s own blood. Approximately 8-10 ml of the received blood is centrifuged through special filters. It is ensured that the platelets, which are concentrated in several layers in the plasma, which is the liquid part of the blood, are ready for administration. Thanks to the kits developed for these operations, PRP has become a fairly secure application. In addition to the use of one’s own blood, no side effects are encountered when maximum attention is paid to sterility.
PRP application, which is approximately 4-5 ml after the necessary procedures, can be done in several ways. The most common form of application is to be injected into the targeted area with thin needles, as in the case of mesotherapy. It can also be done in the form of giving a high volume, such as in filling applications. Another method of application is to apply it with a mask impregnated with PRP. It takes about 30 minutes to obtain PRP from the blood, and the application process takes about 30 minutes.
PRP treatment is december at intervals of 2-4 weeks.
It is not applied to those who have a family history of cancer, those who use blood thinners, those who have blood diseases, those who have infections and inflammation in the area where the application will be performed, pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding.
Since PRP treatment is based on self-renewal of the skin or applied tissue, it is wrong to expect the treatment result immediately. The results of PRP treatment appear after the second or third session.
After PRP treatment for aesthetic purposes, tightening and sagging of the skin, lightening of wrinkles, lightening of spots on the skin, brightness of skin color and reduction of scars occur. After applications to the scalp, there is an increase in hair thickness and condensation in rare areas.
After PRP application, a person can continue his normal life. There is no image that will affect the work and social life of a person. In some cases, depending on the needles used in practice, small and temporary bruises, rashes may occur. Applying an ice compress after the procedure relieves this side effect.
No hot baths are taken on the same day as the procedure. Sunscreen should be used.
