Breast Repair

Breast repair surgery is more of a reconstruction operation, that is, a repair operation, than a cosmetic operation.

Breast reconstruction after removal of the breast due to a tumor or other disease is one of the most successful operations in plastic surgery. Thanks to new technologies in medicine, surgeons can now create a breast that is very similar to a natural breast. Currently, these operations can be performed simultaneously with breast removal surgery (mastectomy). In this way, the patient has a new breast when he comes out of surgery and also gets rid of the psychological distress that a breast-free period can give.

Operation Process and Aftermath

Almost all mastectomy patients may be suitable candidates for breast reconstruction. Breast reconstruction (repair) can also be performed on these patients at the same time as mastectomy (breast removal).
But some patients may be advised by their surgeon to wait for reconstruction surgery (for example, if the breast is to be repaired with the patient's own tissue (flap transfer), obesity, high blood pressure, smoking, etc.).

Breast repair surgery can be performed on many women whose breasts have been removed due to cancer. A breast repair operation is performed as the doctor sees fit, either while the breast is being removed (simultaneously) or in the subsequent process (late repair).

The situation in which each patient is located is different from each other. Many factors, such as the patient's age, body structure, the condition of dec radiation therapy or chemotherapy, the stage of the disease, should be evaluated together by doctors.

Different techniques can be used for breast reconstruction. The specific method for each patient’s condition and physiology is decided by talking to the patients in person under the guidance of the surgeon.

Enlargement of the skin: The most common technique used in breast reconstruction is the expansion of the skin, then the placement of the prosthesis.

After a mastectomy (breast removal surgery), a tissue expander is placed under the breast skin and chest wall november. In the weeks or months after surgery through a port placed under the skin, the surgeon inflates the tissue expander by injecting saline.

After the skin has reached a sufficient width, the tissue expander is removed with a second operation and a permanent prosthesis is placed in its place. If it is the areola (the brown ring around the nipple) and the nipple, it is done later.

In some patients, there is no need to expand the skin and it may be possible to place a permanent prosthesis at the same time as a mastectomy.

Flap reconstruction: A method of making a breast by removing tissue from another part of the body (abdomen, back, or hip) instead of installing a breast prosthesis is called flap reconstruction.

There are also different types of flap reconstruction.

Flap reconstruction is a more complicated procedure than the use of prostheses. After the operation, scars remain both in the places where the tissue was removed and in the places where the breast was made. In addition, the healing process may be longer compared to the prosthetic method. On the other hand, the result may be more natural in breast reconstruction done with your own tissue. Sometimes it can also be a separate gain for you to get rid of excess skin and fat in areas such as the buttocks in the abdomen where the tissue is removed.

What awaits you after breast reconstruction (breast repair) surgery?
After breast reconstruction surgery, your pain is at a level that can be controlled with painkillers, and you will be discharged from the hospital within 2 to 5 days. Usually, a decanter is installed to remove fluid accumulated between the tissues from the body. Drains are removed 1-2 weeks after surgery. The stitches are taken in about a week and 10 days.

It may take 4-6 weeks for you to return to your normal life.

Normal sensation is not gained with reconstruction; however, some sensation may come over time. Most of the postoperative scars become indistinct over time.

The advantages of breast augmentation by fat injection over other methods of breast augmentation include:

Having your own oil
No foreign matter
Completely natural appearance
It works very well on asymmetrical breasts
It supports the actual surgery of tuberous breast
Thinning occurs in the area where fat is taken
A very effective method for making the breast close to normal for breast deformities that cannot be solved with silicone.

  • The first week should be spent lying on your back, not lying on your face for 6 weeks. It is necessary to avoid lifting the arms up too much.
do not take a shower for 2 days. In order to undergo a proper recovery process, you should initially rest, and then avoid excessive activity.
it is necessary to use sports bras for 3 weeks.
It is important to carefully follow the routine control planning.
